Summit County Children Services (SCCS) is the local public agency mandated by law to ensure that our community's children are safe and well cared for. For over a century, SCCS has been promoting child safety, permanency and well-being by responding to concerns of child abuse and neglect. SCCS staff assesses the strengths and challenges of the family and works with them to develop a case plan identifying services necessary to reduce risk to the child and prevent abuse and neglect for occurring again. If a removal is necessary due to safety concerns, a safe placement is secured, preferably with relatives.
